CESAER is the European association of more than 50 leading, specialized and comprehensive universities of science and technology that champion excellence in higher education, training, research and innovation.
From 17 to 19 October 2019, leaders representing universities of Science and Technology have gathered in Paris to address the challenges of education, research and innovation in the 21st century. During the conference, the 32nd General Assembly of the CESAER has elected Rik Van de Walle, rector of Ghent University, as the new President.
As the new president of CESAER, Rik Van de Walle wants to emphasize the importance of cooperation between Science and Technology on the one hand and Social Sciences and Humanities on the other. A final point of attention will be an clear focus on the innovative technologies for the 21st century (artificial intelligence, biotechnology, quantum technology) and their impact on society.
