Internal Ghent University Call for small-scale U4 initiatives and mobility – 2019

In support of the U4 network Ghent University launches an internal call for (1) small-scale U4 cooperation initiatives and (2) mobility to the U4 partner universities.

1. Small-scale initiatives  

Ghent University aims to support small-scale joint U4Society cooperation activities between Ghent University and the universities of Groningen, Göttingen and Uppsala in the fields of education, research, and/or institutional management.

The following types of joint initiatives are encouraged: summer/winter schools, workshops, seminars, set-up of joint/double degrees, joint module courses, joint research activities, project writing, ...

Applications have to meet the following criteria:

  • Involvement of min. 2 other U4Society partners
  • Financial commitment (co-funding) of min. 1 other U4Society partner. As a general rule for joint U4Society activities the home university pays travel costs and accommodation, the host university pays organizational and subsistence costs)
  • Durability of the cooperation: medium-/long-term perspective

How to apply?

Applications are brief (max. 1 page) and should include

  1. Title
  2. Description of the activity
  3. Objectives, output and reach
  4. Timing
  5. Names and coordinates of U4 colleagues
  6. Budget estimate

2. Mobility

In addition to the support of joint U4Society initiatives Ghent University intends to fund individual mobility of Ghent University staff and students (Ma, PhD) to one of the U4Society partner universities (Groningen, Göttingen and Uppsala).

In particular, the call aims at mobility on a short-term basis which is not eligible for other funding programmes (external and/or internal, e.g. Erasmus, Doctoral Schools etc.). Examples of eligible mobility types are: symposia, summer schools, seminars, training, internships, …

The funding support is limited to a max. of 500€/week and a total max. of 1200€, corresponding to a max. stay of two weeks. The funding support comprises travel and accommodation. Registration costs or participation fees connected to the activity will not be refunded. In general, U4 participants are exempted from any fees by the partner university.

The U4 funding call is continuous without fixed deadline and allows to plan initiatives on a short-term.
