During the last week of August a selected group of 16 students from 11 different countries gathered in Göttingen to participate in the 6th edition of the Summer School on 'Clinical and Translational Neuroscience'.
This year, the summer school was supported by the U4 network. On each day of the week, the students covered one major topic of clinical neurology:
starting with stroke and intensive care, inflammatory disorders and neurodegenerative diseases and up to cognitive neurology, epileptology and neuromuscular disorders.
The program emphasized relevant clinical problems and put it into a translational perspective, which was equally beneficial for neuroscientists working on clinically relevant topics, as well as clinician scientists with an interest in basic neuroscience.
Key note lecturers introduced to the topic, which was followed by demonstrations and discussions in small groups and joint seminars. Among the highlights was a visit to the German Primate Center, a guided tour through Göttingen as well as the joint dinners, which gave the opportunity for faculty and students to exchange in a casual setting.
